My Skincare Routine / Step 1

The first step in any skincare routine is to cleanse and for me it’s a necessary. My skin is now a combo oily with dry patches on the nose and chin.

So every morning I wash my face. My morning routine is slightly different from my evening routine specially in the cleansing step. Mornings I only need to wash my face. So my number 1 cleanser at the moment is CosRX LowPH Good Morning Gel Cleanser (1). It’s so nice on your skin and not harsh. It’s really a good cleanser if you haven’t worn makeup all day to cleanse your skin. So my morning cleaning step is usually just that. One step before the rest.

However my evening cleansing routine is just a bit more if I spend majority of the day with makeup on. First thing remove any eye makeup. I like using Dr. Jart’s Dermaclear Micro Water (4). Pretty similar to other micro waters out there and it doesn’t irritate my eyes. However, the only downside of it, it doesn’t do a good job of taking off waterproof mascara. Recently on a weekend trip up to Seoul I forgot to bring my eye makeup remover and while at Olive Young discovered Ariel Stress Relieving Purefull Lip and Eye Remover Pads (6). Its’ so great! It removes all the eye makeup without irritation and also removes waterproof mascara. Even better, it doesn’t have a oil after-finish like some of the other makeup removal pads I’ve tried. It’s going on my must repurchase list for my next Olive Young trip.

The next step is to remove the rest of my face makeup with a cleansing balm. I love Banaco’s Clean It Zero. It goes on smooth and really does remove face makeup and dirt off the skin. Right after I rinse that off, then I cleanse again with a water base cleanser. I’ve been using Nature Republic’s JeJu Sparkling Mud Foam Cleanser (2). It’s starts out as a gritty, clay-like gel before foaming up into a soap cleanser. Like you are exfoliating before washing, but now rough. I’ve just started trying out AHC The Aesthe 5.5 Cleanser (3), but so far it’s been good. It is a gel cleanser and I got it as a free gift along with another purchase.

So that’s what I’ve been using & buying here in Korea. At least for cleansing, next post I’ll write up about the next steps in my routine: exfoliating & toners. I’ve also working on a sheet masks review, though there are a couple of new ones I’ve seen I want to try first. I’m also planning on a makeup collection post. I’m working on a lot of things right now, so bare with me.

Till next time,

안녕 – jane
