A new year has come and that means new goals and resolutions. Like the rest of the world I do have some goals I would like to tackle this year. Last year was great for me! I checked off most of the goals I had set: Coming to Korea, visiting another country, making new friends, etc. This year, I’ve got a couple of new goals and one that I’m still working on from last year.
1. Check Off At Least 3 Places On My Travel Bucket List
Part of the contract (which I hope doesn’t change) is that we NET teachers get 28 vacation days per year. I plan on using at least one week during the summer to travel and another in the winter. This winter I am going home, but next winter I plan to travel someplace warm for a week. My BFF wants to go to Bali which I haven’t been to before in the summer. I’m also hoping to hit up one or two European counties like France and Italy. If I can’t go that far, then I’ll stay in Asia and finally visit places like Thailand and Singapore.
2. Increase Online Influence
I’m trying to express myself more online. I started a new Instagram account to focus on my shopping, skincare and cosmetics habits and would love to have that account grow. I also want to improve my other account that focuses on Travel and Life in Korea. It’s kind of hard remember to on both, but like everything else, it’s a work in progress. I know people are probably more apt to spend less time on social media, but for someone who lives outside of their home country, it’s a connection I feel I need to cultivate. However, I will try to spend my time consciously when I there.
I also want to make more vlogs and videos for my YouTube channel and have that grow as well. Both aspects are pretty much me stepping out of my comfort zone and putting myself out there for the world to see.

3. Get Back Into Fitness And Healthy Eating
Ever since I moved to South Korea, my fitness and healthy eating game has plummeted. It’s not out of control. I haven’t gained much weight, nor have I lost any weight. However, since I don’t go to the gym every day or even workout every day like I used to, my body is not as fit as it once was. I also would like to increase the number of vegetables I eat and decrease the carbs. The exercise I pretty sure I can do more, the eating though. That’s going to be a hard one to plan. Rice is a constant.
4. Do More Creative Things
I hope to get back into drawing and painting. Well, probably not large painting since I don’t have the space for that. I’ve really slacked on my drawing and artistic skill. One of the things I plan to bring back with me is my art supplies. I have a whole set at home and I hope that bringing them back to Korea will spark my artist skills. I do have one drawing I started on, but I just need to set aside time to work on it.
5. Improve My Korean Language Skills
I think this is something everyone should try. Not Korea per se, but learning a new language and improving your speaking skills. I think I would have liked learning another language more in high school if I got to choose the language I wanted to study (I studied Spanish because my dad said it’s better for business than French…). I even think that if more schools offered more Asian languages back then, I would have taken much more interest. That being said, I need to work on my Korean language skills. I’m planning to spend at least an hour studying.
What goals do you have planned for the new year? How do you think you’ll accomplish them?
So until next time, 안녕 ~ jane*
