Up to Namsan and Down in Mapo-gu

My Sunday up in Seoul was a lot of walking for me. I got out of my AirBNB pretty early and made the trek to Namsan Tower. Now, I made the choice to climb up to the tower. If you can, I would highly recommend taking the car lift up and trekking down. Especially on a hot day like that Sunday. Thank goodness I decided to wear a sleeveless top underneath my sweater and had brought a bottle of water with me. The shot above about about 1/3 of the way up.

After several rest breaks up far too many stairs, I made it to the top along with at least 100 or so other people up early. I think by the time I made it up there it was nearing 10 am. Maybe 10:30. I’m not too sure. I was just happy I made it there.

The view of Seoul was wonderful despite the cloudy haze of air pollution. And there was even a little weekend market going on up on the main plaza. I, of course, brought my self a treat for my treat… a pair of new sunglasses. I really needed one since somehow after our tour during EPIK Orientation, the ones I brought with me broke.

The locks on the tower were quite beautiful and by the looks of it, there was plenty of more spaces to place more. I didn’t go into the tower. It was just way too long of a line for me to wait in and I was starting to get very hungry. I could have eaten there, but again, the burger place and the coffee shop had lines. So I went to the Olive Young (yeah, there is one at the top…) grabbed a simple snack and another bottle water and made my way down.

After Namsan Tower, I walked and shopped in Myeongdong. I’m kind of upset with myself for not taking more pictures while I was there. But it was quite overwhelming with all the various stores and the streets just crowded with people. Also, I’m quite aware that my new iPhone carries the Asian feature of no-silent-photo-shutter. I’m still getting use to it.

I actually brought quite of bit of skincare products and only got a sweatshirt (Hogwarts theme sweatshirt) and a cream sweater for clothing. My next post I’ll write about my haul, but that’s for later. For now I need to go back to cleaning my apartment.

I do plan on going back to Seoul, there is so much to see there and I haven’t even checked off half my Seoul Bucket List Yet! Oh, and next week it another holiday weekend and this time I’m heading off to…. Busan!
